This winter, Manchester City did not skimp on the means to satisfy the desires of Pep Guardiola. Faced with a cascade of injuries in central defense, the Skyblues blew through all the competition to acquire the highly sought-after Marc Guéhi in exchange for €23 million. A significant sum for the former captain of Crystal Palace, whose contract ended next June. And that’s not all.

Eager to strengthen his attack with a side player, Guardiola secured the signing of Antoine Semenyo. City dropped €72m to pay for a player who has scored 10 goals in 21 matches for Bournemouth this season. A costly bet, but one that paid off for the Skyblues since the 26-year-old Ghanaian international (32 caps, 3 goals) immediately proved decisive with 5 goals and 2 goals in 8 matches, in all competitions.

A Brazilian quickly adapted to Europe

For next summer, La Gazzetta dello Sport assures that Manchester City has its sights set on a Serie A resident. His name? Wesley. Aged 22, the Brazilian arrived at AS Roma last summer from Flamengo. Capable of playing as a right-back, but also a step above, both on the right and on the left, Wesley immediately established himself in the team coached by Gian Piero Gasperini.

Starting 24 times in 29 appearances (3 goals, 1 assist), the South American was recruited in exchange for €30 million. And according to the pink newspaper, City are ready to put €50 million on the table to exfiltrate him from Italy just one year after his arrival in the Boot. Under contract until 2030, Wesley has however been declared non-transferable by AS Roma who do not intend to be stripped at a time when they know that retaining an element like Manu Koné will be much more complicated.
