Ismaël Koné and OM, it’s over. Loaned by the Marseille team to Sassuolo, the 23-year-old Canadian international is a hit in Italy. He notably scored 4 goals in 20 Serie A matches, and convinced the managers of his club to exercise his purchase option, as confirmed by the Italian club. “US Sassuolo Calcio announces that it has exercised its right to definitively acquire the sporting services of footballer Ismael Konè from Olympique de Marseille”.
Recruited for 12 million euros from Watford in the summer of 2024, Koné no longer belongs to OM, who will still recover his investment and even a small additional million euros, since the Serie A club will pay 13 million euros to activate this purchase option. In total, he only played 9 games under the Marseille tunic, during the first part of last season and before his equally inconclusive loan to Rennes.
