James Milner has equaled Gareth Barry’s Premier League appearance record. At 40, the midfielder came on Thursday evening against Aston Villa for his 632nd match in the English championship, replacing Carlos Baleba in the 22nd minute after the latter came close to being sent off. A symbolic moment, since Milner equaled this record on the field of one of the clubs where Gareth Barry also played.

As a reminder, veteran James Milner has a very rich career in the Premier League, having successively played for Leeds, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Liverpool, where he played from 2015 to 2023. This longevity and consistency make him one of the most experienced players in the championship, capable of maintaining an exceptional competitive level despite his advanced age. Milner had already broken a record linked to his age last October.
