Trained at Paris Saint-Germain, Samuel Essende had truly revealed himself in the eyes of Europe on the Portuguese side. Under the colors of Vizela, the 28-year-old striker had scored 15 times in the Portuguese first division, at the same time earning his place in the Congolese selection. Remarkable performances which opened the doors to the Bundesliga last summer. But the German adventure was cut short. Severely lacking in playing time and confidence on the FC Augsburg side, the powerful center forward had to find a way out to restart the machine. It is now done.

Taking advantage of the later closure of their transfer market, the Young Boys of Bern won in the very last hours of the transfer window. And the Swiss club did not do things by halves. To secure the striker’s signature, management dropped €3.75 million. A colossal amount on this scale, which makes Essende one of the biggest transfers in the history of the Bernese club. The former Parisian has signed a long-term contract, linking him to Young Boys until June 2029.
