The Madrid coach took advantage of the press conference preceding the European clash against Bruges to highlight the unique tactical contribution of his new offensive reinforcement, Ademola Lookman.

This winter, Atlético Madrid formalized the arrival of Ademola Lookman for 40 million euros, including bonus, from Atalanta Bergamo. A transaction which already seems to be bearing fruit, the Nigerian striker having been decisive four times (2 goals, 2 assists) in only 4 appearances with the Colchoneros.

Last Thursday, against FC Barcelona (4-0) in the semi-final first leg of the Copa del Rey, Lookman stood out by scoring a goal and providing an assist. A great performance which should allow him to gain further confidence, but also credit with his trainer, Diego Simeone.

A different player

This Wednesday, as the first leg play-off match against Club Bruges approaches, El Cholo praised the qualities of his new recruit. The Argentinian particularly appreciates the uniqueness of Lookman’s profile and considers him a major asset capable of making the difference in the Champions League.

“He has different characteristics from our attackers. He is more of a specialist in one-on-one play than in association play, even if he has that too, and he immediately had a very good impact on the team”Simeone said.
