The love story between RB Leipzig and Xaver Schlager is over. This Friday, the German club formalized the departure of its protégé. “The midfielder has decided not to extend his contract, which expires in June 2026, and to start a new chapter. We will give the best of ourselves until the end of the season”specifies the RBL press release.
“We really worked intensely for a long time to keep Xaver with us. Nevertheless, we naturally accept and respect his decision to reorient himself, especially since the entire process was marked by honest and open conversations. Xaver played a decisive role in the training of the last three and a half years at RB Leipzig and always left everything on the pitch. He deserves a big thank you for that and of course we wish him all the best for his future from the summer onwards”declared the CEO of Leipzig.
