The Careggi hospital will certainly suffer. Indeed, after the death of the famous Fiorentina captain and defender Davide Astori at the age of 31, the structure will have to compensate the player’s family due to serious misconduct. His partner Francesca Fioretti, his daughter Vittoria, his parents and his sisters will receive one million one hundred thousand euros in compensation. The decision is part of the Supreme Court’s judgment in the trial for the death of the player and for which Professor Giorgio Galanti, director of sports medicine at the Florentine hospital, has already been sentenced to one year in prison.

The payment of the sum of money was decided in this way because the professional, at the time, was employed by the public structure. The same professor was also convicted last June for false ideologies following another procedure concerning the death of the Italian. Two other doctors were also held responsible for having contributed to the falsification of a medical certificate for an examination to which the player would never have undergone. As a reminder, Astori’s disappearance occurred on March 4, 2018 at the Udine hotel where his team was based.
