This season, Arsenal are crushing everything. In the championship, the Gunners confirm their rise. On the European scene, Mikel Arteta’s men are progressing and can already foresee the round of 16 of the competition. So this Sunday, on the 23rd day of the Premier League, the London club hoped for only one thing: to confirm its supremacy. Opposed to Michael Carrick’s Manchester United, sixth in the championship at kick-off, Arsenal finally suffered one of the rare disappointments of their start to the season.

Aligned in 4-3-3 with an attack made up of Saka, Trossard and Jesus, the Gunners had a more than complicated start to the match. Jostled and hampered by the opposing pressure, Arsenal could not find the fault and ultimately had to take advantage of a twist of fate to open the scoring. Upon receiving a cross from Hincapié hit by Dorgu, Saka slipped back from the right to Ödegaard. The Norwegian captain struck from the outside of the left with first intention and under pressure from Timber, Lisandro Martinez deflected with his heel (1-0, 28th). Ahead, the PL leader was far from dominant. And what was supposed to happen happened…

Carrick’s Manchester United continues

On an awkward delivery from Zubimendi, Mbeumo appeared, erased Raya and revived the Red Devils (1-1, 36th). Hanging on to the break, Arsenal had a frustrating afternoon. And the continuation of the debates confirmed the trend. Returning from the locker room, Manchester United completely reversed the course of this match. At the end of a well-executed action, Dorgu called for a one-two in the middle with Bruno Fernandes before sending a sharp shot which hit the crossbar before entering the goal (1-2, 50th). Overturned, the London club tried to react in the last half hour.

If Arteta changed his plans by sending Gyökeres, White, Merino and Eze, Manchester United held on and contained the locals’ attacks. In a favorable balance to carry out a very good operation, the Red Devils finally cracked a few moments from the end. On a corner, Lammens found a hole and Merino took the opportunity to revive his team (2-2, 83rd). An evening which finally turned into the irrational. On the gong, Cunha, served by Mainoo, cooled the Emirates Stadium with a magnificent right curl. A classy gesture offering victory to Manchester United, now 4th in the PL. Arsenal remains leader.
