PL: Chelsea gives Crystal Palace a nightmare, Aston Villa dominates Newcastle

This Sunday, the 23rd day of the Premier League offered us an interesting duel between two sick teams. Crystal Palace, which remained on ten defeats in a row in all competitions, hosted Chelsea who had just raised their heads against Brentford (2-0) after several weeks of crisis. And logically, Liam Rosenior’s Blues took control of the ball to impose their rhythm. However, the two best chances at the start of the game were for the Eagles with a one-on-one where Jean-Philippe Mateta fell on Robert Sanchez (8th) as well as a shot from Ismaïla Sarr which passed to the left of the frame (29th). A day to forget for Jaydee Canvot who was going to commit a handball in his area against Joao Pedro. Enzo Fernandez was responsible for converting the penalty (3-0, 64th). Worse, Adam Wharton was excluded shortly after (73rd). In the final moments, Crystal Palace saved the honor from a corner thanks to Chris Richards (3-1, 88th). With their 3-1 victory, Chelsea moved up to fourth place while Crystal Palace remained fifteenth, 8 points behind the first relegation zone. A top-of-the-table duel, the clash between Aston Villa (3rd) and Newcastle (9th) turned to the advantage of the Villans. At the start of the game, Emiliano Buendia gave the advantage to Unai Emery’s gang (19th) and Ollie Watkins hit the nail on the head at the end of the game (88th). With their 2-0 victory, the Birmingham club remains third, four points behind Arsenal who challenge Manchester United at 5:30 p.m. and level with Manchester City (2nd). Finally, Nottingham Forest won 2-0 against Brentford. A success which allows the Reds to maintain a five-point lead over West Ham and the red zone.
