Matthieu Udol is now experiencing the best period of his career in Lens. Repositioned left piston, the former Messin strings together XXL performances and decisive crosses, to the point of becoming one of the co-best passers in Ligue 1. In an interview granted to The Teamthe 29-year-old is enjoying this metamorphosis: “I am totally fulfilled in this role”he explains, describing a demanding position where he finally feels at home. “We have a very important role… it’s so athletically demanding that it’s not reserved for everyone”adds the one his teammates always nickname The Machine.
This sparkling form logically opens the door to a blue dream, even if Udol keeps a cool head: “It’s not for me to say. I know I’m performing well, maybe there’s a place to be made. But I don’t put pressure on myself. It’s just a bonus for me to already experience this. Six months ago, it was unimaginable that I would be mentioned for selection. So, I’m taking full advantage and working hard because it’s a great opportunity too. We’ll see what happens in March already. »
