Monday evening, the management of Olympique de Marseille opened the doors of the Commanderie to representatives of its supporter groups. Freshly eliminated from the Champions League and upset last weekend in the championship against Paris FC (2-2), the Marseille club is going through a somewhat contrasting sporting period. The leaders therefore decided to speak with their supporters, unhappy with the situation. An initiative that divided observers.

Columnist for the L’Équipe channel, Brahim Asloum gave his opinion on the subject. “I don’t see what this
(dialogue) will change. No one on the staff ensures that we play badly, that we sabotage ourselves. Telling them that you have to play in this way, I don’t see what that actually brings. » And during this famous meeting, the supporters sent the expected message: they will continue to encourage their team this Tuesday against Rennes (9:10 p.m., 8th final of the Coupe de France). But she will be forbidden to lose. Win at all costs.

Brahim Asloum continued his reflection.
“I don’t find it intelligent, I don’t find it coherent, I don’t find it logical. (…) Their athletes are already under pressure. That people from the outside, who have not practiced or practice very little, or in any case know little about the very, very high level, allow themselves to judge based on assessments… Frankly, it’s complicated, when you’re an athlete, to receive them in the face. You nod out of respect, but in reality you know that three-quarters of the people who tell you to do this or that thing are not themselves capable of doing the tenth sportingly. »

OM, an important week

As reported by various media, the meeting on Monday evening took place in a generally cordial atmosphere and without insults. On the OM side, president Pablo Longoria was present, as were Medhi Benatia and Roberto De Zerbi. The latter addressed the supporters and explained to them that he did not want to give up anything. The Italian coach also admitted that he was having difficulty in this complicated period for the club.

Several players from the squad were also there, like Leonardo Balerdi, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. It now remains to be seen what the reaction of Olympique de Marseille will be on the pitch. In addition to the decisive match this Tuesday against Stade Rennais, the “Classic” on Sunday evening against PSG (8:45 p.m., 21st day of Ligue 1) will be another crucial meeting.
