Terrible news for a Bleu de Deschamps

Symbol of Crystal Palace’s great success in recent months, Jean-Philippe Mateta is currently going through a small storm. The French international, called up for the first time by Didier Deschamps last fall, is at the heart of a thorny transfer window.

First announced in the sights of Juventus, then associated with Nottingham Forest, the former Olympique Lyonnais player left to treat himself to a nice transfer to AC Milan. Everything was supposed to be settled this Monday, before the winter market closed, but the matter collapsed according to Fabrizio Romano. A knee problem is believed to be the cause of this dramatic turn of events.

Mateta, it’s getting complicated

Clearly, this is a hard blow for Jean-Philippe Mateta, who sees his transfer to a big name in Europe collapse. It now remains to be seen what his end of season will look like with Crystal Palace… or another club, if a last minute move were to take place. If his playing time were to decrease, or if his performances became unremarkable, the native of Sevran would see his place at the World Cup be greatly threatened.
