His absence from the squad in the Coupe de France against Bayeux was enough to raise alarms. Robinio Vaz was in the process of leaving since negotiations intensified between OM and Roma. The two managements ended up agreeing on compensation of €25 million, as we reported, making the young striker the 5th biggest sale in the club’s history, even though he only appeared 22 times in the Marseille jersey.

The news is now official. The player, who will celebrate his 19th birthday on February 17, is leaving Marseille to join Roma where he has just signed a 4 and a half year contract, until 2030. AS Roma are delighted to announce the signing of Robinio Vaz from Marseille on a permanent transfer. The 18-year-old striker has signed a four-year contract, valid until 2030 », We can read in the press release. Robinio Vaz will wear number 78.

OM makes a very nice added value

Marseille has made the promotion of young players from the training center to the first team one of its priorities. Appearing on rare occasions last season, Vaz especially exploded during this first half of the year, to the point of being started on certain occasions by De Zerbi. With his 4 goals and 2 assists in 19 games, the native of Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines) was able to seize his chance and set an example for other young players, like Daryl Bakola for example.

Arriving from Sochaux in the summer of 2024 for 200,000 euros, Vaz cannot be considered trained at the club but his success is to the credit of the Olympians, who are realizing enormous added value in record time. Fans may regret his early departure when he barely had time to show off. Its sale at least allows OM to redress its accounts and have a margin over this winter transfer window in order to strengthen itself with elements like Himad Abdelli.
