Definitely capable of the best and the worst this season, Liverpool showed their best face this Saturday against Newcastle, at Anfield, on behalf of the 24e act of the Premier League. Against the Magpies, the Reds won 4-1. Not without conceding the opener to Gordon (36e).

Ekitiké’s double before the break allowed the locals to set the record straight – in the space of barely two minutes (41e43e). The turning point of the game certainly as the Mersey players struck twice again after the break, by Wirtz (67e) and Konaté (90e+3).

Surprise scorer in added time, the French international defender could not contain his emotions, celebrated as he should by all of his teammates. Ibrahima Konaté had missed the last three outings of the Reds, mourning the loss of his father.

Fifth again in the standings – provisionally of course – Liverpool remains clinging to Chelsea, fourth by one point after their stunning victory over West Ham (3-2). Newcastle is 10e with six units less on the clock.
