Recruited by Bayer Leverkusen last summer, Eliesse Ben Seghir then said goodbye to AS Monaco, which he joined in 2020. Quickly perceived as one of the gems of the training center, he knew how to get everyone to agree in the youth teams before making the big leap to the first team. Launched in Ligue 1 in December 2022, he scored a resounding double against Auxerre for his first appearance in the league. Enough to bring everyone into agreement in the Monegasque microcosm.
In Monaco, Ben Seghir established himself as one of the great promises of the French championship. Totaling 15 goals and 9 assists in 85 matches, he then decided to leave for the Bundesliga. Little used since the start of the season, its future could ultimately be written again in France and, more particularly, on the Rock.
A great opportunity before the World Cup
According to our information, Eliesse Ben Seghir is about to return to AS Monaco. Indeed, ASM and the management of Bayer 04 have almost reached an agreement for the return of the Moroccan winger, in the form of a loan. Some details are still to be worked out between the two clubs, as well as with the 20-year-old, but his return is on track.
Good news for Ben Seghir, but also for Monaco, which has been struggling for several weeks with a disillusioned Sébastien Pocognoli and Thiago Scuro increasingly in the hot seat. The arrival of Ben Seghir will nevertheless allow ASM to benefit from a new asset in attack, especially with Minamino’s injury. The Moroccan could only sign for Monaco this winter, having already played 43 minutes with the Monegasque club in Ligue 1, at the start of the season, before joining Leverkusen. His return to the Principality will also allow him to have more playing time to show himself in the eyes of Regragui, with a view to the 2026 World Cup.
