Present at the Parc des Princes for the 16th final of the Coupe de France between Paris Saint-Germain and Paris FC, Mamadou Sakho officially announced the end of his professional career. In an emotional statement, the former defender thanked the supporters and the club for their support throughout his journey. “Paris Saint-Germain has become a family united, not by the financial aspect, but by the collective efforts and talent of each individual”he explained. He also recalled the criticisms that accompanied the first stages of the club’s new era, before praising the philosophy of Luis Enrique and the confidence of the president: “Enrique had a plan, he was supported by the club and the president who gave him the keys. He knew how to transmit his playing philosophy to this club which deserves it so much. Today, Paris shines in France and in Europe. »
Sakho also shared a personal message, combining pride, humility and transmission: “The players pass, but the story remains. Whether people like it or not, I marked my time at PSG with complete humility. I am proud of what I have accomplished, without any regrets, and the supporters know that I have always fought for this jersey, whether at PSG or with the French team. Today, I return to my garden with my family and I hope, why not, that a future Sakho will love football. But I’m not forcing anything, he will do what he wants, and I will be there to support him. »
