“Playing football again, that’s my project. I have no other ideas in mind than getting back into the field. What I want is to get back on the field wherever it is. This is the land today that I want. Whether it’s France, abroad, it doesn’t matter, it’s not a problem for me”confided Layvin Kurzawa last December to Football transfer window. The former French international (14 caps from 2014 to 2019, one goal) has finally found a base.

More than six months after his departure from Boavista (where he only played four matches), the 33-year-old left back signed until the end of the season with Persib Bandung, in Indonesia. This is the reigning Indonesian champion and current leader of the local Super League after 18 days, where several foreign players play and even a French striker, Andrew Jung, who played for Valenciennes in 2023-2024.

Layvin Kurzawa’s career has been at a standstill for five years and a 2020-2021 financial year with 27 matches in all competitions with PSG. The former Monegasque was under contract with the Rouge et Bleu from 2015 to 2024!

Kurzawa in Asian C2

A loan to Fulham in 2023 did not revive him, nor did his stay of a few months at Boavista. It is therefore in the humidity of South-East Asia that Kurzawa will attempt to conclude his career. Persib plays in the round of 16 of the Asian Champions League 2 (the AFC’s second club competition) with a first leg in Thailand against Ratchaburi on February 11.

“In terms of playing style, Kurzawa has several strengths that match Persib’s current expectations. Precise crosses from the left flank, excellent recovery and offensive audacity are highly sought-after assets. He is not only efficient in defense, but also active in transitions”wrote Persib, a club from the 4th city in the country, with 2.5 million inhabitants, which plays in a stadium with 38,000 seats.
