FIFA calls for sanctions against Senegal!

“Unacceptable”, “deplorable scenes”, “unacceptable”… The day after the final of the 2025 African Cup of Nations won by Senegal to the detriment of Morocco (0-0, 1-0 ap), FIFA published a harsh press release against the Lions of Teranga.

In it, the president of the governing body Gianni Infantino protested against the actions of certain Senegalese. As a reminder, some of the Senegal players, led by their coach Pape Thiaw, left the field in protest after the decisions taken by the match referee Jean-Jacques Ndala Ngambo.

A behavior which is not at all past for Infantino, present in the front row at the Prince Moulay-Abdellah stadium in Rabat. “We strongly condemn the behavior of some Senegalese players and members of the technical staff,
can we first read in the press release sent to AFP. It is unacceptable to leave the field in this manner, and violence cannot be tolerated in our sport, it is simply unacceptable. »

Senegal sanctioned?

The FIFA president continues. “ We must always respect the decisions made by the referees, on and off the field. Teams must play within the laws of the game, as any other behavior jeopardizes the very essence of football. »

Gianni Infantino also called on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to take “appropriate measures” so as not to let these behaviors go unpunished. “ The deplorable scenes we witnessed today must be condemned and never recur.
