The Merengues have made a new change on their bench after a 2025-2026 season marked by numerous scandals. Many of them have concerned Brazilian superstar Vinicius, with the South American player having sidelined discussions regarding an extension of his stay at the Bernabéu.
Transfer rumors concerning Vinicius: a fantastic offer in the Saudi Pro League
Vinicius’ current contract runs until 2027. Real are understandably reluctant to see their star player – who has been among the favorites for the Ballon d’Or in 2024 – enter the final twelve months of his contract.
There is no question of him leaving the Spanish capital free of any contract, and a major sale could be considered if no agreement is reached. The 25-year-old winger continues to attract strong interest in the Saudi Pro League.
Offers have reportedly been made from the Middle East, with some as high as €1bn (£867m/$1.2bn) for a long-term contract. Such amounts are impossible to ignore and are sure to get people talking.
Hope for extension after Alonso’s dismissal
Vinicius looked destined to begin transfer negotiations, with his relationship with world champion Alonso strained at the Bernabeu. ESPN reports that the possibility of an extension would have been “non-existent” if Alonso had remained at the helm of Real Madrid.
He was dismissed from his duties less than 24 hours after the defeat in the Spanish Super Cup final against FC Barcelona, Real Madrid’s historic rival. Vinicius certainly found the net during this meeting, scoring a superb solo goal, but he was far from satisfied.
Real Madrid interim coach Álvaro Arbeloa was quick to praise Vinicius, and relations are gradually repairing. ESPN is now among the media reporting that Real Madrid intend to reopen contract negotiations.
