The Paris Saint-Germain recruitment unit is deep in thought. After a summer transfer window considered timid on the offensive level and a first part of the season disrupted by several injuries, the capital club is studying different avenues in order to strengthen its midfield, but also its offensive sector.

With this in mind, the name of Enzo Fernandez was checked by PSG, according to The Team. Under contract with Chelsea until 2032, the Argentinian international is reportedly wondering about his future since the departure of his coach, Enzo Maresca, replaced by Liam Rosenior. A change of coach and a context considered unstable in London which could, in the long term, open a door without leading to an imminent operation.

PSG does not plan to take action this winter, believing that it does not have an urgent need for this position. The upcoming return of Achraf Hakimi should notably make it possible to reposition Warren Zaire-Emery in the midfield and rebalance the Parisian environment. The path leading to Enzo Fernandez, however, remains considered serious in view of the next summer transfer window.

The fans say no

The fact remains that this possible arrival is far from unanimous in France, and even less so among Parisian supporters. The image of the Argentinian environment remains strongly tarnished since the broadcast of a viral video during the celebrations of the Copa América 2024, in which a chant with racist connotations targeting players of the France team sparked heated controversy.

On social networks, the rejection is already palpable. “We don’t want any racists”we can read about X, while others castigate a player judged “overpriced, pretentious and overrated”. “Even for €1, I won’t sign it, we haven’t forgotten”says an Internet user. An attractive sports track on paper, but potentially explosive in terms of image. To be continued.
