Barça maintains the ascendancy over Real

Clearly, we are rarely disappointed lately with the Clasicos between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. No matter what was at stake, even if it was “only” the Spanish Super Cup, this Sunday evening’s meeting was spectacular. And it was the Blaugranas who had the last word (3-2) on the pitch in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

Orphan of Kylian Mbappé, returning from injury and replacing at kick-off, Vinicius ignited the first sparks at the start of the match. But it was Barça who struck first, with a goal from Raphinha (1-0, 35th).

It was in added time that the match turned into madness, with a gem from Vinicius (1-1, 45th+2)… and two other goals. The first signed Robert Lewandowski, forgotten by the Real defense (2-1, 45th+4), the second for Gonzalo Garcia, Mbappé’s effective understudy at the moment (2-2, 45th+6).

Raphinha decisive

Returning from the locker room, while Vinicius was still dangerous, it was Raphinha who scored the winning goal, with a deflected right shot, a little lucky (3-2, 73rd).

Despite the entry of Mbappé (76th) and the red card of Frenkie de Jong (90th+1), Real will not be able to come back, and may regret the two big chances for Raul Asensio and Dani Ceballos in added time.

After dominating Real last season, Barça thus offers itself the first trophy of the 2025-2026 financial year. And as the Catalans are leaders of La Liga with 4 points in advance, we would almost forget the victory of the Merengues during the first leg in the championship, at the end of October (2-1).
