Already heavily targeted last summer, Manchester United are exploring the possibility of recruiting Carlos Baleba this winter transfer window, but a transfer seems unlikely in January. According to Sky Sportsthe English club studied the conditions to attract the Brighton midfielder, but the Seagulls want to keep their player at least until next summer. Baleba is on Manchester United’s priority list, alongside Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) as well as João Gomes (Wolves), while the club are also tracking young talents like Ayyoub Bouaddi (Lille) and Christos Mouzakitis (Olympiakos).

For 2026, Manchester United mainly aims to strengthen its midfield with one or two high-level players, with the summer as the main window to make these reinforcements a reality. However, the club does not rule out seizing an exceptional opportunity in January if it presents itself. The English media also reports that the recruitment of offensive and defensive players is still being studied, but the immediate priority remains Baleba, whose arrival could transform the Mancunian midfield during the next summer window.
