This winter, FC Barcelona promised to be wise in the transfer window. “Finding something that improves the team is practically impossible. It’s hard to find quality players who adapt to the winter transfer window. I insist, I don’t think we will be active in January”admitted sports director Deco at the beginning of December. The Catalan club had planned to enlist young players for its training center, like Ajay Tavares, before banking on the summer transfer window to really strengthen its squad.

We even learned that the Catalan management was already targeting Joško Gvardiol (23 years old) from Manchester City and Alessandro Bastoni (26 years old) from Inter Milan, two left-handed defenders also capable of playing on the wing, in addition to the rumors Marc Guehi and Pau Torres. But this Sunday, FC Barcelona reported a terrible blow with the injury of Andreas Christensen, out for at least four months due to a partial rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in the left knee that occurred in training.

Barça can use a joker

A hard blow for the Catalan central defense, already deprived of Ronald Araujo, sidelined since the match against Chelsea for psychological problems. In this sense, only Jules Koundé, Eric Garcia, Pau Cubarsí, Gerard Martín and Alejandro Balde are available for four positions in defense. And after Sportthe sports management will soon meet and should rely on temporary reinforcement until the end of the season, probably in the form of a loan, while respecting financial fair play to be able to register it.

If the club presents LaLiga with a medical certificate confirming this long unavailability of Andreas Christensen, the Blaugranas will thus be able to recruit new reinforcement to compensate for his long absence, who should logically be less attractive than the names announced for next summer. Another solution for Hansi Flick: focus again on the training center. Jofre Torrents is important to the German coach, who has brought him in four times this season, while Álvaro Cortés presents himself as an interesting option to fill a possible void in the center of defense.
