The Coupe de France weekend spoiled by snow?

Snow fell in Paris, covering the Parc des Princes and the Stade de France in particular. Images that are always pleasant to see, except for footballers, who generally only moderately appreciate playing in the cold and on a pitch that is difficult to play on. Should they expect to play in these conditions this weekend, for the return of the Coupe de France?

The question arises as new flakes are expected on Wednesday “over a large northern part of the country”says Météo-France. Thirty-eight departments have been placed on orange alert and the situation could last. If the cold air should “regress towards central Europe”according to forecasts, “a little snow” is announced “near the eastern borders”.

Saturday, in this region, “the snowfall in the morning will gradually give way to rain in the plains as the afternoon progresses”indicates Météo-France. Sunday,
“the weather will be wet over a large part of the country, with still a risk of snow in the morning in the north-east”. More generally, “due to humidity and wind, the feeling will not be pleasant at all”.

Bad news, therefore, for the various players involved in these round of 16 of the Coupe de France, who may fear the worst. The Sochaux-Lens (Saturday at 9 p.m.), Metz-Montpellier (Sunday at 6 p.m.) and Lille-Lyon (Sunday at 9 p.m.) matches could in particular be impacted by this cold wave which is currently crossing France.
