Former right back of RC Strasbourg and Olympique de Marseille, Habib Beye today divides his life between the roles of consultant and coach. Posted on the bench at Stade Rennais since January 2025, he nonetheless remains a familiar face on TV sets, where his time has not been without a few twists and turns.
The native of Suresnes has crossed paths with many well-known figures in the French football landscape. Among them, Pierre Ménès, a meeting which will have marked the two men, as the former Canal+ journalist recently recounted in a video published on his YouTube channel Pierrot Le Foot.
“I took one of his thoughts very badly”
The ex-columnist of the encrypted channel acknowledges in particular having had a serious clash with the current coach of the Rouge et Noir.
“I had a pretty severe clash one day with Habib, and another club another day with Alain Roche because I had taken one of his thoughts very badly. But hey, two clashes in eleven years… I want to say ‘can do better’”he confides with hindsight.
Ménès also took the opportunity to return to the consultants with whom the relationship went best. “The one with whom I got along best was Christophe Dugarry, because Duga was the one who proposed him to M6 during the time of 100% Foot. He was the first guest on the first issue of the show, with Bruno Solo. When we had the rights to the World Cup, I really campaigned for him to be the one to commentate on the matches. I have always really liked Duga as a player, I appreciated him enormously, he is very intelligent. And even though she disappeared from my life, I got along very well with Laure Boulleau too”he adds.
