With Alberto Gilardino’s job threatened by a series of disappointing results in Serie A, Pisa are already preparing his succession, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The team currently sits in penultimate place, just 3 points ahead of Fiorentina, and has won just one game this season. The most original idea studied by the management is to entrust the team to Davide Ancelotti, son of Carlo Ancelotti, who recently managed Botafogo in Brazil and could thus make his debut as head coach in Italy.
The club sees in him a figure capable of bringing renewal and following in the footsteps of his father, who started in Serie B with Reggiana thirty years ago and managed to move up to Serie A. The objective for the young coach would be less to win immediately than to keep Pisa in the Italian elite after 34 years of waiting, a mission which would echo the historic rise of Carlo Ancelotti.
