Divock Origi, remember? This is how La Gazzetta dello Sport begins his article about the Belgian striker, aged 30. Because yes, Origi is still under contract with AC Milan, a contract which ends next June. But the Rossoneri decided to call it a day, since Origi hasn’t really been a Milan player for a long time. According to La Gazzettathe termination of his contract is now recorded.

He has already stopped training at Milanello by mutual agreement with the club, and had hired a personal trainer to keep in shape, while he could be seen spending time instead in Rome and Florence. Not particularly eager to return to the field and especially a starting position, Origi refused the various options offered and he has not played a match since his return from loan from Nottingham Forest. His last appearance on a pitch dates back to April 21, 2024. With AC Milan on May 28, 2023!

A market opportunity?

Recruited in the summer of 2022, in the wake of the Italian champion title, the Belgian striker had signed a 4-year lease, paid at €4 million net per season, or more than 300,000 euros per month. After an average first season, with 36 appearances for Milan for only 2 goals in Serie A, he did not survive the changes of coaches and management. AC Milan, for its part, has recruited several attackers, from Gimenez to Nkunku including the latest, Niclas Füllkrug, who arrives on loan from West Ham.

Divock Origi therefore finds himself free, at 30 years old, and could represent a bet to try for teams in need of a scorer. It will also depend on their financial requirements and their physical condition. Capable of dazzling moments, Origi revealed himself with LOSC, before joining Liverpool, where he fully participated in the Champions League coronation in 2019, notably with his double against Barça in the semi-final second leg and his goal in the final against Tottenham.
