QSI always dreams bigger. On December 9, the owner of Paris Saint-Germain, who has taken control of the club since 2011, announced the acquisition of KAS Eupen. “Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), a leading strategic investment group in sports, culture, entertainment and lifestyle, is pleased to announce the upcoming acquisition of KAS Eupen, a historic Belgian football club currently playing in the Challenger Pro League. The arrival of KAS Eupen within the QSI Group further strengthens its position as a global player in football and business – in addition to QSI’s majority stake in Paris Saint-Germain and its minority stake in Sporting Clube de Braga – alongside QSI’s other leading investments in padel (Premier Padel), art (Art Basel) and other multi-sport projects spanning motorsport, basketball and many other disciplines.we could read in particular on the official press release.

News that made Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the president of PSG, happy. “Qatar Sports Investments is proud to become the guardian of KAS Eupen and to contribute to the development of football in Belgium. Using QSI’s global expertise and passion for football, our aim is to build a modern and competitive football and business structure, which will make KAS Eupen fans proud and build on the club’s formidable heritage to date. We warmly welcome a fantastic club and community into our family.” For its part, the Belgian team was also delighted with this new collaboration, which will offer it other perspectives. A few days after this announcement, on December 15, PSG sent one of its leaders to Eupen. This is Pasquale Sensibile, who held the position of head of PSG recruiters. From now on, he will officiate in Eupen, where he will be the eyes and face of QSI.

QSI and Paris rely on Eupen

“Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), a leading strategic investment group in sports, culture, entertainment and lifestyle, is pleased to announce the appointment of Pasquale Sensibile as Sports Director of KAS Eupen, effective immediately and until summer 2026.” In the process, Luis Campos, the sports advisor of PSG, explained this highly strategic decision: “We are very happy that Pasquale is taking on this important role at Eupen. He brings exceptional expertise in talent development and team building, and as a key member of the PSG structure, he also ensures continuity and alignment within the QSI football family.” Silent since his arrival in the Flat Country, Sensibile (54 years old) wasted no time in speaking at a press conference to say more about his mission but also about his ambitions and his objectives with the Eupenoise team.

He first explained the reasons why QSI decided to bet on KAS Eupen. “Because QSI has big ambitions and wants to perfect the construction of an ecosystem. Naturally, we have a management which will decide on the strategy. For us, it was the right timing to return to Belgium, through a historic club like Eupen. We are going to do the best we can for the future of the club (…) We have time to understand what we want to improve and change things. I spoke to the team, to the employees, we have a great opportunity, we must realize it. We must change our daily behavior. We must be more positive, turn the page and try to change everything with conviction and enthusiasm. In life, miracles do not exist, but perhaps in football.” The Italian leader defined the outlines of the strategy of KAS Eupen, which must return to the Belgian first division as quickly as possible. Currently, the club bought by QSI is in fifth place in the D2 standings (29 points, 8 wins, 5 draws and 4 defeats), 16 lengths behind leader Beveren.

PSG players heading to Belgium

But the new leader knows that everything will not be done in a few days and that it will take time to build solid foundations. “I will share my experiences with everyone. I have a very personal conviction: no one in the club has my experience but I don’t have the experience of the people who work at the club. For me, the most important thing is to share. Share ideas, doubts, moments of difficulty and very soon, I hope, moments of satisfaction. D1 is the final destination. We have to be very intelligent and calm. Nothing gets done in two days. We must be patient and lucid, listen and understand and choose the best moment to change things. There are no limits.” It will also be necessary to manage the transfer window but also the links with PSG, which could send certain elements to its satellite club a bit like Chelsea successfully does with Strasbourg in France. Which should give ideas to leaders.

“We will work together wherever it makes sense and where it will move us forward (…) Why not? It is possible that a young PSG player will join us in January. There have already been sporadic cooperations between PSG and KAS Eupen in the past, such as the loan of Djeidi Gassama. We can now set up this type of collaboration in a more systematic way between PSG and KAS Eupen, but also with Braga. He added a layer later on the RTBF. “The 2nd division does not help, but we have options, we will evaluate them with the management, with Mr. Luis Campos. He’s the boss. Every day I have things to share with him. To improve the future of KAS Eupen and the future of young players, why not bring them in. The objective is at least to come back and settle in the first division. Then, we will plan the next steps. I think that Eupen already has its history, we must respect it and promote it. We have to be professional, every day. The employees, us, the collaborators, I must be an example. Examples are more powerful than a thousand words.” The idea is therefore to make adjustments, particularly with Parisians, without upsetting the balance established at KAS Eupen. The Team mentioned the name of Noham Kamara (18 years old), who could arrive on loan this winter. Launched ten days ago in this new adventure, QSI, but also PSG, hope to experience just as much success in Eupen, where their arrival will give a real boost.
