Yves Bissouma (29 years old) is in turmoil. The Spurs midfielder was caught by his club after filming himself on Snapchat inhaling nitrous oxide, better known as “laughing gas”. This is the second time that the Malian international, who suffered a long ankle injury, has been caught consuming this substance, illegal for recreational use in the United Kingdom since 2023. Highly criticized after these stories on his social networks, the ex-LOSC player came out of silence in the columns of Sun.

Regarding the broadcast of these videos under the influence of laughing gas, Yves Bissouma assures that the broadcast of the last video affected him, as well as those around him and especially his family. “When my father saw her, he panicked because he didn’t feel well. I tried to make him understand that it’s a difficult image, but that it doesn’t represent me”he assured, specifying that he was sorry. The Tottenham player, dismissed at the start of the season, tried to explain the reasons for this incident and explained that it all went back to the series of burglaries he was the victim of in recent months.

Yves Bissouma confirms depression

“These incidents broke something inside me, they led to fear, panic, paranoia, depression, sleepless nights and a constant loss of confidence. I am a mentally and physically strong African man. I have faced battles and storms, but these incidents… I asked myself, “Why me?”, countless times”explained the 29-year-old, who does not want “No more talking about this balloon thing, it’s over. But to the fans, I’m really sorry.”.

Yves Bissouma specifies that this in no way excuses what happened, but hopes that people will be able to better understand the reasons for his actions, he who had “so afraid of sleeping at home that I went to sleep at the training center. Even talking about it was difficult”. Surprise selection for the African Cup of Nations with Mali, Bissouma, who confirmed having suffered from depression to the point of consulting a doctor five times a week, now wants to move forward: “I want to move forward after my mistakes. I love playing for Tottenham. I’m just thinking about getting back into shape and trying to enjoy playing football again.”. Enough to call into question the recent rumors of departure.
