Sergio Conceição currently coaches Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia. But only a year ago, he was named to the AC Milan bench, to succeed his compatriot Paulo Fonseca. He did not last more than half a season in this position, he was also dismissed to make way for Massimiliano Allegri. However, the Portuguese coach believes he has done a good job, notably with a victory in the Italian Super Cup. In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sporthe returned to what spoiled his experience in Italy.
“There was instability within the club, the atmosphere around the team was bad. That’s why I care about what we’ve accomplished. Additionally, management did not support me. Let me give you an example: after winning the Super Cup, we played against Cagliari. By then, rumors were already circulating that the club was looking for other coaches. I was focused on work and winning, with the weight of the results. I didn’t have time to work on all levels”he noted.
