The Brazilian demands an increase, while Real Madrid refuses to revise its latest offer upwards. Negotiations should resume next summer, but if things don’t go as planned, the Merengues have a plan B.
Vinicius has always publicly expressed his desire to stay at the Bernabéu, and it was reported this week that president Florentino Pérez also wants to keep him. Real Madrid have every intention of keeping Vinicius unless an agreement is reached.
Vitinha in Real Madrid plans
However, Cadena SER claims that if negotiations fail, Los Blancos will turn to Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Vitinha. They are reportedly looking to sell Vinicius, for a minimum price of 100 million euros, and use the sum to fund an all-out offensive for the Portuguese midfielder. Real Madrid’s interest in Vitinha is not new, and the Madrid club believe he could make a difference in midfield.
Why didn’t Real Madrid recruit a midfielder?
In recent months, a lot of ink has been spilled over the reasons why the Merengues did not seek to replace Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. Jorge C. Picon explained that Real Madrid’s management is aware of the lack of a player of this caliber in midfield, but when exploring the transfer market, they have not found any convincing and affordable player.
As a result, the club has pinned its hopes on Jude Bellingham and/or Arda Guler, capable of playing further down the pitch. Unfortunately, neither has confirmed these hopes.
With or without the money from a Vinicius sale, a Vitinha transfer seems extremely difficult to complete. The PSG player is under contract until 2029 and would be very reluctant to lose him, especially to Real Madrid. The Whites would have to convince him to force a departure, and even then, PSG have proven with Kylian Mbappé that they do not give in to the demands of a player.
