Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is essential at OM. In the eyes of Roberto De Zerbi, who makes his Dane an almost systematic starter, but also of Olympian supporters who regularly criticize the content of his meetings. It must be said that the midfielder sometimes gives off opposing impressions within the same match, sometimes timid with the ball, sometimes courageous in his constant pressing. Besides De Zerbi, another coach particularly appreciates him. This is Luciano Spalletti, the coach of Juventus.

As we already told you last November, the Italian club checked the name of the Dane, aged 30, for the winter transfer window. He is seen as the perfect gift for Spalletti, who wants to recruit a new strongman in the midfield. Koopmeiners has moved back a notch, McKennie alternates between winger and attacking midfielder, and reinforcement is therefore deemed necessary. Spalletti has clearly named Højbjerg as his ideal recruit.

Juve wants to try their luck

Problem is, a first approach took place last summer, on the sidelines of discussions around the transfer of Timothy Weah, and De Zerbi vetoed it. It is difficult to see why the Italian technician would change his mind in January, when Højbjerg has started 12 times in Ligue 1 and 5 times (in 6 days) in the Champions League. De Zerbi’s current problem is more about finding the identity of the right environment to support Højbjerg.

However, as reported La Gazzetta dello SportJuve wants to insist and Damien Comolli, the French boss of the Old Lady, will indeed try to recruit him. The Piedmontese club had already approached the player when he played at Tottenham and contact was never broken. That said, if OM remains inflexible (Højbjerg is under contract until 2028), then Juve will be forced to turn to other solutions.
