Marcus Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, has reaffirmed his desire to stay at FC Barcelona this summer.

The Blaugrana can count on Rashford until the end of the season, but the contract includes a purchase clause of 30 million euros.

In an interview with Sport, Rashford was asked about his charitable involvement and community initiatives. He recently visited several schools in Barcelona with the club and is recognized in the UK for his work advocating for free school meals and literacy programmes.

“I started most of this when I was 18 or 19. I decided to invest myself in this field. My mother was already dedicated to this and we wanted to develop these initiatives. She always sought to help the homeless, especially at Christmas: food, clothes. She traveled the streets of Manchester to distribute parcels filled with basic necessities to the most deprived. »

Rashford indicated that he wanted to involve as many FC Barcelona players as possible.

“Of course, I try to involve other players and teammates in these kinds of projects. But it obviously has to be something that motivates them, something that they really want to do. Ultimately, the goal is to reach as many people as possible, but the initiative must come from them; otherwise, it is difficult to establish this connection. For me, it’s natural; It’s something I’ve always seen. At my mother’s, in my community. I feel comfortable in this kind of environment and situation; I feel that, because of my position, I can help, and that I must. »

“Of course I want to stay at Barça” – Rashford

For a long time, the ability of England players to adapt to life outside the British Isles has been questioned, but Rashford said he has adapted well.

“I fit in very well with the club and the city. As soon as I arrived, I felt very welcome. My reason for being here is to help the team win trophies; Last season was fantastic, but life moves quickly, things change, and the goal is to repeat those successes. I’m totally focused on that. Everything is going wonderfully with the staff and my teammates; I have nothing to complain about. »

His goal is to convince Barcelona to recruit him permanently.

“Of course I want to stay at Barça. That’s the ultimate goal, but that’s not the reason I train hard and give it my all. The goal is to win. Barça is a huge and fantastic club, built to win titles.

“The pressure is not negative in Barcelona”

One of the reasons for his departure from Manchester United was a fresh start, with many viewing the atmosphere at Old Trafford as not conducive to success. Barcelona is not a club for the faint-hearted either.

“The pressure is present, but it is positive; it’s the one a player looks for, the one I want and have always wanted as a footballer. I cannot operate in an environment where expectations are not high; it is more difficult for me to stay motivated and give the best of myself in a club where the demands are not maximum. »
