The Liverpool locker room decided between Arne Slot and Mohamed Salah

What if Mohamed Salah had played his last match for Liverpool against Sunderland on December 3? We can legitimately think so even if nothing is certain at the time of writing these lines. The Reds have not planned any special tribute this weekend when Brighton host Anfield, proof that the Egyptian is still in the team’s plans, despite lurking interest from Saudi Arabia.

The situation remains complicated. We should quickly know (today?) if the Reds star will be called up for this meeting, after being left out of the group for the Champions League meeting at Inter last Tuesday. Without him, his club escaped with a difficult victory (1-0). This is the consequence of his vitriolic interview against Arne Slot, his trainer, last weekend.

Slot has the support of the locker room…

Salah does not accept his sudden downgrade, believing that he is the big victim of his team’s failed start to the season. However, he extended his contract for two years last April, after leading his team to a new English championship title. High-level sport is not a cause for sadness. It’s the terrain that rules. He also blames the last star recruit of the summer, Florian Wirtz, whom he accuses of having taken his place.

The German has however been in difficulty since his arrival but that does not prevent him from having the confidence of his coach and the locker room. According to the Daily MailSlot enjoys the support of the entire group and even the club. Executives like Curtis Jones, Alisson and Dominik Szoboszlai did not hesitate to publicly support him. The English newspaper even estimates that the Dutchman has gained weight since the incident with Salah.

…and management

If some inside the club have questioned his tactical sense and his management of the group, his attention to detail, the desire to find solutions and his communication are all assets for Liverpool. The 4-4-2 diamond that he has put in place for a few matches is also well accepted by the players. The technician enjoys the support of everyone, including management despite the poor results and defends him in the management of the Salah case.
