Liverpool player since 2017, is Mohamed Salah forcing his departure from the Reds through the back door? A luxury substitute this season, the Egyptian striker came down hard on his coach Arne Slot. A heavy-handed media outing that many consider inappropriate given the experience of the 33-year-old player. Others think that Salah prepared his move in order to push his leaders to let him go during the next winter transfer window. Asked to react to this hot issue, Mido advised his compatriot to pack up.

“I’ve been through this situation before. When Liverpool play, the whole of Egypt is in front of the television, waiting for Salah to play, waiting for him to score a goal. Everyone feels that their son is playing in the best league in the world today. They are proud of him. This puts enormous pressure on him to perform and be involved. He’s not a guy like the others. He is the king here in Egypt. People need to understand this. It was the same for me when I played for Tottenham, for example. All of Egypt was waiting for the match. All of Egypt was sitting in cafes, waiting for me to play today. They were proud of me. They are proud of Salah. And that puts pressure on you. I have already experienced this situation. (…) I think he should leave. I think it’s time for him to go. If you lose that trust with the coach, it’s hard to repair. But if he leaves, he has to leave through the front door, if you know what I mean. He has done so much for Liverpool. It’s a legend »he told Skysports.
