Exiled in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ittihad since 2023, Karim Benzema recently admitted that he would be ready to return to the Blues to play in the 2026 World Cup at the age of 37 if Didier Deschamps called him. Former teammate of KB9 at OL, Sidney Govou, interviewed by The Teamfelt that several obstacles make a return difficult despite Benzema’s undeniable talent.

“It’s very hard to decipherhe admitted. Can it be added value? Karim, I love the player, he has exceptional game intelligence. Technically it is easy. In front of goal, it’s very strong. But France has incredible wealth ahead. Even before his potential recall, we wonder which player we can release. It might be complicated to put him on the bench. Deschamps, if he is interested, must speak to him and say: “OK, I’ll take you but are you ready to accept this role?” They must not be prisoners of each other.”
