PSG – Rennes: the Khvicha Kvaratskhelia phenomenon has once again set the Park ablaze!

For its last of the year 2025 at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain, defeated by AS Monaco last weekend, resumed its march forward by easily winning (5-0) against Stade Rennais. A valuable victory allowing Luis Enrique’s men to come within a small point of RC Lens before challenging Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday evening in the Champions League. An evening marked by the new XXL performance of a certain Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Aligned in the right lane of the Parisian attack, the 24-year-old Georgian will remain, in fact, as the great architect of this new success.

Inspired and very available for his partners, the defector from Naples generally had fun facing the Rennes defense, and more particularly Przemyslaw Frankowski, in agony facing the sharp percussion of the Ile-de-France number 7. Often found by the Rouge et Bleu, the native of Tbilisi also released his team shortly before the first half hour of play after a solitary rush, concluded with a clear shot from the right (1-0, 28th). More than this goal, Kvaratskhelia especially showed off his technical palette. Dropouts, deep shots, breakthroughs in the axis of the game… the Georgian international (47 caps, 20 goals), credited with an 8.5 and elected man of the match by the FM editorial team, delighted.

Kvaratskhelia martyred the Rennes defense

A permanent threat to the Rennes rearguard and as unpredictable as ever after returning from the locker room, the Parisian winger sealed PSG’s victory with a shot under the bar (3-0, 67th) after a perfect serve from young Senny Mayulu, passer and scorer against SRFC. A full match (3 shots on target, 83% successful dribbles, 6 duels won, 1 ball recovered) confirming his irresistible rise in power. Praised for his decisive side on the European scene – but often discussed for his weaker impact in Ligue 1 in the last gesture – the 24-year-old left winger has apparently (finally) found this continuity in his performances. As proof, “Kvara” has totaled 3 assists and 3 goals since the 9th day of Ligue 1.

A performance allowing, at the same time, to forget the absences of Désiré Doué or even Ousmane Dembélé, who came on for the last half hour this Saturday evening and was also very close to participating in the party on a caviar from… Kvaratskhelia (65th). Replaced by Gonçalo Ramos under the clamor of the Parisian enclosure, the former Napoli star received praise from his coach: “I remember that your colleagues asked me the question yesterday that Kvara would choose his matches like in the Champions League or Ligue 1. But no. Yes there is pressure but he is a spectacular player, different with a mentality and qualities of a high level artist. We are calm about him“. The one Naples nicknamed “Kvaradona” shone in the Parisian cold, eclipsing any doubts still existing about his level this season.
