Revelation of the season for Bayern Munich, Lennart Karl (17 years old) is getting everyone to agree. The young attacking midfielder took advantage of Jamal Musiala’s injury to find a place in the team and performed well. Thus, he has 6 goals and 2 assists in 20 matches this season and is knocking on the door of the German selection after having made a great debut with the U21s last November (3 goals in 2 matches). However, before exploding at Bayern Munich, he could have gone to Real Madrid.

In a podcast on S.Z. “Und nun zum Sport”, journalist Sebastian Leisgang revealed an anecdote about the young Lennart Karl. When he was 10 years old, he received an invitation from Real Madrid to take a trial in June 2018: “he had a trial at Real Madrid at the age of 10. There were training courses at regional level, including one in GroĂźkrotzenburg in the Aschaffenburg region. From there he moved on to the next round, in Memmingen. He established himself there again and was later invited to Real Madrid, which allowed him to play at the venerable BernabĂ©u stadium. As you know, the deal with Real Madrid did not come to fruition at the time. His father told me later that he was happy about it, because he felt that the issue was not his son, but rather the negotiation of contracts for large consulting agencies. That’s why it didn’t work out, and looking back, the family doesn’t regret it at all.» Since then, Lennart Karl has shined at Bayern Munich and quickly established himself there.
