From an Arsenal legend to a Liverpool legend, the message got through. Consultant for CBS, Thierry Henry decided to comment on the sidelining of Mohamed Salah by Liverpool and more particularly the statement of the Egyptian winger. The former French striker had difficulty with the latter’s comments. Indeed, after the 3-3 draw against Leeds United this Saturday, Mohamed Salah said: “I am very, very disappointed. I have done so much for this club over the years, and especially last season. Now I’m sitting on the bench and I don’t know why. Looks like the club threw me under the bus. That’s how I feel. It is very clear to me that someone wanted me to take all the responsibility. I’ve received a lot of promises this summer and so far I’ve been on the bench for three games, so I can’t say the promises are kept. I have often said that I had a good relationship with the coach, and suddenly there is no relationship anymore. I don’t know why, but I feel like someone doesn’t want me at the club anymore.”
An outing that Thierry Henry did not really appreciate and he made it known: “I had problems with Wenger, with Guardiola… Have you ever heard me talk about it publicly? Never. When you play for a club, you have to protect your club at all costs. No matter what happens internally, you protect the club. You protect your teammates, the staff, your manager… You can be angry, frustrated, disagree… But you don’t wash your dirty laundry in public. Especially when the team is in difficulty. You wait, you sort it out internally, and then if you want to leave or say what’s on your heart, you do it at the right time. I understand Mo’s ego, his frustration, he scores 38 goals and finds himself on the bench… But there is a moment when you have to put the team before yourself.»
