The countdown is on. On Sunday, the start of CAN 2025 will be given in Morocco. An edition eagerly awaited by supporters, given the homogeneity of the field.
Host country and first African semi-finalist in the history of the World Cup, Morocco is clearly approaching the competition with the objective of a final coronation. And this status is reflected on a statistical level since Opta estimates that the Atlas Lions are indeed the favorites of this African Cup of Nations, with a winning percentage estimated at 19.1%.
CAN 2025: a very high plateau
Optimism is rife in the Moroccan ranks, as the country hopes to win a new continental title half a century after its first victory (1976). But the competition will be very tough. Behind Morocco, Egypt, record holder for victories in the tournament, also enjoys a good rating (12.4%), as does Senegal, who impressed during their friendly matches against big names like England or Brazil (12.3%). Algeria emerges among the outsiders, placing itself in 4th position (12%) ahead of Nigeria (7.3%). The other big names in African football close the top 10: Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Mali, Cameroon and South Africa.
