Serie A is considering a minimal measure to help Italy prepare for its World Cup play-offs: bringing forward the schedule of a Matchday 30 match to 8 p.m. The idea, relaunched by President Simonelli and mentioned by the Corriere della Serawould aim to offer “a few precious hours” to internationals to join their selection sooner. A decision presented as a gesture of collaboration towards Gennaro Gattuso, who had requested adjustments before this crucial window in March.
But this initiative appears to be insufficient. Bringing forward a single match by just 45 minutes, when the initial request was to postpone the entire day, looks more like a symbolic compromise than real help for the Azzurri before facing Northern Ireland. In an already overloaded schedule, the League seems to opt for the bare minimum, at the risk of transforming this supposed support into an almost insulting message for the coach and the supporters.
