RC Lens finalized a historic and decisive operation this Sunday for its future.
This Sunday, December 14 will remain for RC Lens a date to be marked with a white stone. Not content with having won its championship match against OGC Nice (2-0) to remain leader of Ligue 1 ahead of PSG, the Artesian club recorded important news for its development and its future prospects.
Acted since last May but delayed by a legal-political appeal filed by the opposition called Rassemblement National, the transfer of ownership of the Bollaert-Delelis stadium was recorded on Sunday between the town hall of Lens and the Racing Club de Lens. This for a budget of 27 million euros.

“ It is an important moment for the club, even historic and at the same time very natural. This stadium is a very important part of our heritage. It is also recognized as a historical monument. », welcomes Joseph Oughourlian, the owner of the Sang et Or institution.
Bollaert preserved for at least 20 years
In order to convince the town to give up its sports venue, the boss of Racing agreed to comply with one of the town hall’s requests. Namely adding to the deal a clause prohibiting naming over a period of 20 years. Bollaert is thus assured of remaining Bollaert for the next two decades.
“ It would really cost the club a lot of money if we had fun changing the name of the stadium. The club is ready to review its statutes and introduce a clause where the club undertakes not to change the name of the stadium in order to reassure the locals », Confirms Joseph Oughourlian, relayed by RMC.
