Torino fires its sports director to everyone’s surprise

Despite a lucrative transfer window and the arrival of Marco Baroni on the bench, Torino is still unable to do so and is currently in 16th place in Serie A. A few weeks before the transfer window, management has decided to fire its sporting director Davide Vagnati: “Torino FC announces the dismissal, with immediate effect, of Davide Vagnati from his functions as sporting director and technical manager of the club. Torino FC thanks Mr. Vagnati for his work and dedication over the past six years and wishes him the best for the rest of his career“.

In the rest of the press release, the Granata announced the return to the team of Gianluca Petrachi, former DS of Torino who had built the team for the last European epic in 2019 and responsible for star recruits such as Danilo D’Ambrosio, Matteo Darmian, Ciro Immobile, Salvatore Sirigu, Nicolas Nkoulou, Andrea Belotti: “The technical-sporting direction has once again been entrusted to Gianluca Petrachi, former sports director of Torino, a position he held from 2010 to 2019. The entire club welcomes Gianluca Petrachi: welcome to Turin, Forza Toro!“.
