Getting worse and worse. Opposed to Sporting Braga this Thursday evening for the 6th day of the Europa League, OGC Nice suffered another defeat. The sixth of the season in C3. Last in the standings with zero points, Franck Haise’s men played an 18th match in a row without a victory in the European Cup and were eliminated.
It must be said that the first half did not really leave any doubts as to the outcome of the match. Little by little, Braga gained strength. The Portuguese could have led earlier in the match through Amine El Ouazzani, often forgotten at the penalty point by the Nice defense. Fortunately, Maxime Dupé did not let himself be fooled by the Moroccan center forward.
Nice, for its part, displayed too much clumsiness. Symbol of this, the fear of Ali Abdi, victim of a sole from… his teammate Melvin Bard. Or the offering a few minutes later from the Nice captain to the Bragistas, who did not miss the opportunity to open the scoring on a counter via Pau Victor (28th).
Nice, a defeat and a sad record
The second period was to the advantage of the Aiglons, very close to returning to the game through Kevin Carlos on a cross from Tom Louchet (54th), then on an attempt by Isak Jansson (59th) pushed back once again by Lukas Hornicek. For the rest, nothing to report on both sides except the frustration of the Nice players and their four yellow cards. As well as that of Franck Haise, also warned at the end of the meeting. Overall, the Gym largely dominated the second act, in vain.
Upon arrival, OGC Nice leaves with a defeat (0-1) and a record in France, that of the greatest number of consecutive matches without a victory in the European Cup (18) until then held by LOSC. To glimpse Nice’s last success, we have to go back to March 2023 against Sheriff Tiraspol (3-1) during a round of 16 second leg of the Conference League.
