Cagliari produced a solid performance by beating (1-0) AS Roma at the Unipol Domus during the 14th day of Serie A. Under the leadership of Fabrizio Pisacane, the Sardinians played in a 3-5-2, combining density in the middle and rapid transitions. The match remained balanced for a long time, but it was Gaetano who delivered in the 82nd minute, scoring the only goal of the match and offering a crucial victory to Cagliari. The Romans, led by Gian Piero Gasperini and aligned in 3-4-2-1, had chances, notably by Soulé and Pellegrini, but lacked precision to come back into the score.

The expulsion of Çelik (52nd) clearly did not help the Giallorossi in the second half. This success allows Cagliari to climb to 14th place, moving away from the dangerous zone and relaunching itself in the race to maintain. For its part, Rome misses a great opportunity to reduce the gap with the top of the ranking and remains 4th, missing a chance to consolidate its position for European qualification.
