It was expected, Mason Greenwood’s major performances with OM did not go unnoticed and were starting to excite the markets. Persona non grata after the revelation of domestic violence three years ago, the English winger has rebuilt his image and reputation on and off the football field, now father of two young children. A development which naturally plays a role in its current rating.

Since his arrival at OM in the summer of 2024, Mason Greenwood has played 55 matches for an exceptional performance of 33 goals and nine assists. A great offensive asset, therefore, which inevitably has a cost for its possible courtiers. In recent months, a club like Atlético de Madrid has been able to come forward for information, but in order to knock out potential competition, a candidate has already struck a major blow.

According to the Spanish site specializing in the transfer window Fichajes.net, the Neom Sports Club – a club promoted this year to the elite of Saudi football, coached by Christophe Galtier and which includes among its ranks Alexandre Lacazette and Saïd Benrahma – would have put some 100 million euros on the table to secure the services of the British crack player.

A big check for Manchester too

Of course, such a proposal is food for thought. While keeping in mind that Manchester United – the boy’s training club – currently retains 40 to 50% of the ownership rights to the player. So 40 to 50 million euros on the envelope thus extended to the Marseille leaders. A staff who knows better than anyone what they have to lose or gain in such a deal.

It remains to be known the deadline accompanying Neom SC’s offer – a transfer of Mason Greenwood from the winter market seems excluded for OM. And above all the interest of the main interested party for this prospect of engagement in the Saudi Pro League. In the past, the biggest Saudi transactions have turned into fiascos. Neymar and Jhon Duran, poached for 90 and 77 million euros respectively, did not last long on the side of Riyadh.
