Eddy Doué, Désiré’s cousin who bluffs everyone at PSG

The friendly meeting between the Chelsea U21s and those of PSG aroused the curiosity of many Parisian fans last night. It was an opportunity for some to learn that their club’s reserves were participating in a competition called the “Premier League International Cup” (a U21 championship created by the Premier League bringing together twelve English teams and twelve European teams), and it revived for others the memory of Axel Disasi, excluded from the Blues professional group since the start of the season, and starting with the captain’s armband for this match.

The French international will certainly remember his duel with Ilyes Housni, author of a double and ruthless with him on the second goal (PSG won 3-1), as his teammates in the middle will remember Eddy Doué, master of the clocks and at the crossroads of all influences. A defensive midfielder born in Bangolo (Ivory Coast), Doué is also known in the Parisian microcosm for being the cousin of Désiré, born in 2005 like him. It is still unknown whether he will join the first team in the coming months, but his performance against Chelsea was enough for many supporters to push to see him join Luis Enrique’s group without delay.

Many Parisian fans are asking for him in the pro group

Arriving from Dunkirk in the summer of 2024 to play first with the Espoirs group, Doué (19 years old) is making up for lost time after seeing his momentum broken in the second half of last season due to injuries. It is no coincidence that Paris offered him his first one-year professional contract in July, a way of rewarding him, too, after having stood out with his qualities during his first months. Just yesterday, it was the Baby Blues who discovered them at their own expense.

On social networks, compilations of his match have gone viral, with some videos generating more than 300,000 views and hundreds, even thousands of comments from fans stunned and surprised by the player’s existence in their club. His striking ease with the ball, his ability to become a defender and a creator simultaneously, his personality and his activity have escaped no one. No more than his decisive pass from the outside of the foot which has also earned him, all things considered, certain flattering comparisons with Paul Pogba. Already a decisive passer during the Parisians’ victory against Newcastle (2-0) at the end of November, Doué continues to assert himself as a leader in this Espoirs group. At this rate, it is not impossible to see him knocking on the door of the pro group in the coming months, even more so when we know the interest shown by Luis Enrique and his staff in young people…
