Alexander Isak finally unlocked his score in the Premier League by scoring the first goal of Liverpool’s success at West Ham (2-0), on the 13th day of the Premier League. The €144 million striker converted a Cody Gakpo cross on the hour mark, ending a run of ten games without scoring which reflected the team’s wider struggles under Arne Slot (nine defeats in twelve games). Mohamed Salah was left on the bench while Florian Wirtz, back after a slight injury, brought more dynamism behind the 26-year-old center forward.

After the match, the Swedish international summed up his relief and the importance of this victory. “Of course, I know I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time and I’ve been trying to get back to my best form. I’m still on my way, but I’m happy to have scored this goal. The best thing today is that we won, it’s the best way to create a good spirit in the group. It also helps individually. Of course, I’m a striker, so scoring goals always helps me. We must use this victory wisely but remain humble, because we have been through a difficult period. One win doesn’t necessarily mean we’re back; we must stay focused and continue to work hard to maintain this momentum”he assured.
