European duels at the Stade Louis-II, this Saturday, between AS Monaco (8th) and Paris Saint-Germain (1st) during this 14th day of Ligue 1. After the draw at Páfos in the Champions League (2-2), the Monegasques finally had to rediscover the taste of victory, they who remained on three losses in a row in the championship. For this clash against the Parisian leader, Sébastien Poscognoli aligned a 4-2-3-1 with Jordan Teze associated with Lamine Camara in the middle, in place of a suspended Zakaria. Akliouche, Minamino and Golovin accompanied Balogun in front. Opposite, Luis Enrique made three changes compared to the team which had dominated Tottenham (5-3) in the middle of the week. With Nuno Mendes injured, Lucas Hernández started on the left lane, while Lee and Mayulu took the place of Barcola and Ndjantou to accompany Kvaratskhelia in attack.

The first major play of this meeting occurred in the 12th minute, after a big sole from Camara on Lucas Chevalier. Mr. Turpin then decided to only show the Senegalese a yellow card. An action which recalls the dangerous gesture of Wilfried Singo on Gianluigi Donnarumma, not sanctioned by Mr. Letexier, last season. We had to wait 20 minutes before seeing the first attempts on the Parisian and Monegasque cages. ASM’s first attempt by Golovin found Chevalier’s gloves (22nd). In the process, Kvaratskhelia’s strike was blocked (24th). Vitinha saw his shot released by Hradecky (26th). Two minutes later, Balogun crossed for Minamino at the far post. The Japanese took the ball perfectly from the left, forcing Chevalier to make a very big save to prevent PSG from falling behind (28th). Despite a few Parisian incursions, it was the Monegasques who had the best opportunities and who were closest to taking the advantage. After finding the post (34th), Salisu scored with a header after a cross from Caio Henrique. But the goal was finally refused for an offside by Teze on the action (41st). The reigning French champions had one last thrill, when Balogun was found in the area, before Hernández prevented the American from firing his shot (45th+1).
PSG could lose its 1st place
In the second half, it was PSG who struck first with an excellent ball from Mayulu for Kvaratskhelia, but the Georgian came up against Hradecky (54th). In the seconds that followed, Mayulu came very close to the goal after a beautiful header (55th). After a more balanced period, AS Monaco finally found the fault. It all starts with an opening from Salisu for Golovin on the left. The Russian then found Takumi Minamino in the area, who adjusted Chevalier with a left shot for the opener (68th, 1-0). An achievement which rewarded AS Monaco, the most enterprising team of this meeting. But the rest of the meeting was not easy for the locals.
After a foul by Kehrer on Mbaye, Mr. Turpin first gave the ex-PSG player a yellow card… before the VAR called him and made him change his decision, to a red card (80th). Without their captain, but with Paul Pogba for his debut at Louis-II, the Principality players had to grit their teeth. Despite the entries of DembĂ©lĂ©, Ramos and Ndjantou, PSG was unable to equalize and lost for the second time in the league this season (1-0). The Parisian club could lose its leading position in the event of a victory for Olympique de Marseille against Toulouse in the evening. Opposite, Monaco is finally getting its head above water and temporarily rising to 6th place in the ranking.
