Manchester City are considering making Elliot Anderson one of their priorities for 2026, reports the Daily Mail. The young 23-year-old English midfielder, currently at Nottingham Forest, has attracted the interest of Pep Guardiola and Hugo Viana, sporting director of the Citizens, who have followed several of his matches. Although Forest are refusing any offers during the January transfer window, a transfer before the 2026 World Cup could be possible, especially if proposals approaching €115 million were submitted.
Anderson, who can play as a defensive midfielder or relay player, corresponds to the profile sought by the Citizens to strengthen their midfielder alongside Rodri, Nico Gonzalez and Tijjani Reijnders. If the club’s priority is rather to strengthen its wings with a player like Antoine Semenyo, Anderson would however remain the next objective. The Sky Blues also know that Liverpool and Manchester United could position themselves for the new England international, already a starter alongside Declan Rice. Newcastle, for its part, does not have the means to compete with such an envelope after having sold it to Forest for around 41 million euros in 2024.
